Don’t Rain On My Parade
We all know the old saying, April showers brings May flowers. While May flowers sound exciting, I’m almost never excited for April showers. But no matter how rainy it’ll be this April, I’ve got some tips to help you and your family stay dry. So if you have any outdoor activities planned, read on.
Always Bring An Umbrella—This might sound obvious. But you’d be surprised how many people forget to pack an umbrella daily. Even if you don’t think it’s going to rain, stick an umbrella in your bag, or put it behind your driver’s seat to ensure you have it in case any rain comes your way.
Carry Garbage Bags—Let’s face it, raincoats can be expensive. Especially, if you have growing children who need a new size every year. But good news, you probably already have a budget-friendly way to keep your family dry. Carry empty garbage bags and a pair of scissors wherever you go and when the rain starts, cut a hole in each bag for a head and two arms. Not only is it cost effective, but most children will think it’s fun.
Invest In Waterproof Accessories—We’ve already established why you don’t need to buy a raincoat, but you should never skip out on waterproof accessories. Items like rain boots to keep your feet dry, and a water-resistant hat to keep your head dry will make all the difference.
Check The Weather—I get it, trusting weather apps can be difficult, especially if you’ve been fooled by them in the past. The truth is, they can’t be right 100% of the time, but at the very least, you can use them as a jumping off point to determine how rain-prepared you should be.
Pack A Spare Set Of Clothes—Look, sometimes you’re going to get caught in the rain. And if you pack a spare set of clothes, that’s okay. Keep a spare outfit in the trunk of your car and be ready to change if you find yourself in some crazy weather.
So instead of running from the April showers, let’s embrace them! Use these tips to keep you and your family dry while you usher in the beginning of spring.
